The John Honey Series

"John Honey" - This is the true story of the courtship of "John Honey" Taylor, a backwoods Tennessee farm boy,  and Betty Cravens, a wealthy town girl prior to the Civil War. Their courtship has to withstand strong family opposition and a great many trials before finally culminating in marriage. "John Honey" is a picture book targeted at the upper elementary grade level. The manuscript is completed.

"John Honey Joins the Army" - "Union or Confederacy? - that was the question that burned deep for John Honey and his brothers in the border state of Tennessee. The consequences of their choices are explored. "John Honey Joins the Army" is a picture book targeted at the upper elementary level. The manuscript is completed.

"John Honey Serves His Country" - War brings many challenges for both John Honey in the Army and for his family members who stayed home. "John Honey Serves His Country" is a picture book targeted at the upper elementary level. The manuscript is completed.

"John Honey in Andersonville" - This is the true story of the survival of the human spirit and body in the most depraved of circumstances. It is the story of Will and John Honey Taylor at Andersonville Prison during the Civil War. Singing lifts the spirit and saves the lives of John Honey, his brother Will, and many others. The story covers from capture to release at the end of the War. The story is told as gently as possible while still including the important truths. "John Honey in Andersonville" is a picture book targeted at the upper elementary level. The manuscript is completed.

"John Honey, a Sooner!" - This is the story of John Honey and his family as they move to Oklahoma and claim land. Sooner! was the cry of doom for any who were accused. John Honey is the only accused Sooner to take his case all the way to the Supreme Court and win his case. "John Honey, a Sooner!" is a picture book targeted at the upper elementary level. The manuscript is completed.

"No Monsters Allowed!" - This children's book explores the interference of "monsters" at bedtime. Set in verse, monsters continually interfere in bedtime with all kinds of ordinary and extraordinary antics. The manuscript is completed.

"The Jesus Stocking" - The McFarland children all had The Gimmes. Every time they went to the store, all Mommy and Daddy heard was, "Gimme candy. Gimme a car. Gimme a dolly. Gimme this; gimme that.  Why can't I have? I'll be good if . . ." Mommy and Daddy got sick and tired of their Gimme Kids. With the Christmas season approaching, they devised a plan to help their family be more Christ-like for Christmas. The manuscript is completed.

"Terrance the Termite" - Terrance is a very picky eater.  When he discov-ers the tastiness of various colors, he goes about his nibbling job with greater enthusiasm. The manuscript is completed.

"Tatyanna's Bump" - This is the story of a 5-year old girl as she goes through the procedures necessary to remove a large cell growth tumor. The story is realistic, honest, and positive. Explaining all the pre-op procedures, this is a great story for a child having surgery. The manuscript is completed.
