A Poem on the Website of
the Red Dirt Writers Society

A Soldier
by Tatyanna Neely (Dec 2007)

He runs and runs
To his hiding place,
Where he crouches and waits
Until he has to run again.

He is very tired
But doesn’t let it show
For if he does that could mean
That he really isn’t fit to be.

To be a soldier is very hard,
But to be a citizen is not so,
For a soldier protects the country
We so dearly love.
